OSHODI-ISOLO AFRICAN CHRISTMAS CAROL NIGHT: Hon. Okey-Joe celebrates with his constituents.

It was all fun and excitement on Friday 13th December, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic church hall, Ire-akari, Estate, Isolo, where different Wards under the Oshodi – Isolo 2 Federal constituency gathered to celebrate Christmas with Carols in different Nigerian languages.

Guests and constituents had gathered early at the venue expecting to be thrilled, and they were not disappointed. The ceremony took off, though a bit late, when Hon. Okey-Joe entered. He then apologized for arriving late blaming it on the unpredictable Lagos traffic.

There were also in attendance some constituency dignitaries which included Mrs Commie Uyama, women leader, Walter Ukaga, Dr. Nkem Chima from the International Centre for Morality, Mr. Babalola Komolafe, apex leader, Onowu Godwin Ekezie, Mr. Fabian Heart, Chief Donatus Okolie, and many Ward chairmen. Mr.Babalola Komolafe said the opening prayer.

The Wards that performed included Ilasa, Ejigbo, Isolo, Ajao, and others. . They came well prepared with colorful attires and dance moves depicting the different and rich Nigerian cultures. There were performances that depicted the rich cultures from the Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas, Ibibios, etc.

The Ire-akari Ward rendered their performance in Ibibio, Okota in Hausa, while Ejigbo Ward celebrated the Edo culture. The Ajao ward were creative as they depicted the birth of Jesus with Joseph, mother Mary and a representation of Jesus being cradled.


There was also a beautiful dance performance by the SouthSouth dance group. At the end of the performance, Isolo came third, Okota came second while Ajao was declared the winner by the eminent judges. Prizes were given to the winners.

In his short speech, Hon. Okay – Joe expressed his delight at their various performances. He then went further to donate the sun of one hundred thousand naira each to the members of the Wards that were present. He also promised that next year’s edition will be bigger and more colorful.

Highlight was the cutting of the cake by Hon. Okey-Joe supported by Dr. Chima, Mrs Uyama, and others.
